Download the following zip file and extract its contents.

wildlife-site.zip

  1. Open the site locally and test it - note the HTML files, CSS files and linked images

  2. Log into your hosting via FTP and access the public_html folder

    image.png

  3. the public_html folder represents the ‘root’ folder of your website - so if you upload a file called myholiday.jpg here it would be accessible using the address yourname.tafewest.com/myholiday.jpg

If you uploaded a file called index.html into this folder, the webserver would serve that file when accessing yourname.tafewest.com so yourname.tafewest.com effectively becomes yourname.tafewest.com/index.html

  1. Using your FTP client, create a folder in public_html called wildlife and upload the wildlife website there, ensuring its accessible using an address like yourname.tafewest.com/wildlife by having index.html be directly inside of the wildlife folder, like this:

  2. Test that your website works on your tafewest.com hosting

Extra activity:

  1. Try uploading the websites in this zip in the same way

    ExampleSites.zip

    1. Create a folder called yosemite in public_html and upload the website so it’s accessible at yourname.tafewest.com/yosemite

    2. Create a folder called landonhotel in public_html and upload the website so it’s accessible at yourname.tafewest.com/landonhotel
